A pineapple banana oat milk smoothie is the perfect jumpstart to a healthy New Year. Yes folks, we’ve arrived at that time of year where the urge to detox kicks in and we start searching the internet for healthy meal plans.
Pineapple banana oat milk smoothie is the perfect post-workout refresher or light lunch that doesn’t weigh you down. Not too much banana, not too much pineapple. A hint of ginger and a splash of maple syrup. The pineapple banana oat milk smoothie is a tropical remedy to the winter blues and a great way to kick off a New Year’s Reset.

Not A Smoothie Fan?
Truth be told, I’m not much of a smoothie fan.
I don’t normally crave fruit at all which I know is foreign to many people. I forego the fresh fruit plate at the breakfast buffet in favor of chocolate croissants and bacon. Savory has always been my preference.
I designed this pineapple banana oat milk smoothie to be creamy and mild so that it wouldn’t overpower and set me back on fruit for another six months.

The OG Smoothie – Angel Food
When Smoothie King first opened, I tried it. There’s something about the smell in a smoothie shop that is reminiscent of an ice cream parlor….

For those of you who remember the early days of Smoothie King, Angel Food was the most popular smoothie. It was pretty good so I tried some of the other flavor combos. I quickly figured out that if I was going to like a smoothie, it needed to have banana in it.
I also figured out that an entire smoothie was entirely too much fruit for me. It’s definitely filling which is great, but it tended to sit in my belly for too long and left me feeling a little nauseous. I think my constitution just prefers its sugar fix from chocolate and sweets versus fruits.
Intuitive Eating
Every now and then I actually crave a little fruit so when the urge hits, I try to answer. I am a big believer in intuitive eating, so when i feel it, I know my body must be in need of something that fruit can provide. I’ve been having that itch all week so when I saw a recipe online for a pineapple banana oat milk smoothie today, it inspired me.

If I’m going to actually make and consume a smoothie, it’s got to be a simple recipe where I don’t have to measure.
I love juiced veggies way more than I love smoothies but I have a terrible time trying to make my own because the balance of ingredients can make or break it. Easier to let Suja do it for you.
Pineapple banana oat milk smoothie definitely checks the easy box.
My OG Smoothie
Up until today, I’ve only found one smoothie recipe that I love enough to make multiple times. Jenny’s Salted Blueberry Tahini Smoothie is my version of someone else’s original recipe (which is how all great recipes are created). I still love it but I get lazy sometimes and I don’t follow the proportions carefully enough so my last few batches didn’t hit the mark.
It’s gorgeous though, and a good option for those who are like me and don’t like an overly fruity smoothie.

Pineapple Banana Oat Milk Smoothie
The pineapple banana oat milk smoothie is geared toward people like me who are a little afraid of super fruity smoothies. Banana is key, of course. But I’ve also figured out that too much banana is just that − too much banana. Pineapple banana smoothie is mild and balanced with a little zip from ginger and just a touch of sweetness from maple syrup.
I use oat milk for my smoothies which provides a creamy texture. If you live in L.A., you are probably aware of the oat milk smoothie craze that Erewhon set off with their Hailey Bieber Strawberry Skin Glaze smoothie. There’s a reason that it works. Oat milk is the perfect vessel for a fruit smoothie because it’s just creamy enough without being too thick.

I only use Califia Farms Organic Oat Milk because it’s pretty much the only oat milk option you can buy that isn’t full of sugar, gum or oil. Yep….most oat milks (and other plant based milks) have unnecessary and unhealthy additives so read your labels carefully. Warning: you’ll have to give up Califia’s Barista Blend if you want to keep the junk out of your oat milk. I was sad about that one, but the ingredient list is very scary.
A Better Blender
One of the keys to making a smoothie is having the right blender. After trialing a few options that did not impress, I can across this Oster blender and it knocked my socks off.

Made for Smoothies
First, it has the normal pitcher for blending, but it also came with two travel size smoothie containers. You can actually blend your oat milk smoothie right in the container and then hit the road!

More importantly, this blender has a feature that stops the blade and reverses it a few times when it first gets going. This is IDEAL for making sure big chunks of frozen banana, ice or other chunky ingredients don’t get stuck on the blade and require manual intervention.
Simply genius!!
After I drank my pineapple banana oat milk smoothie today, I was thinking how good it would taste sitting in a beach chair with my toes in the sand. And that it would be even better with one (or maybe two) shots of dark coconut rum mixed in.
