I traveled to Vieques, Puerto Rico in March of 2026. These photos were taken using my NikonD500 and a 500mm fixed lens.

If you’ve never been to Vieques, I highly recommend checking it out. I discovered it as an add-on to a weekend in Old Town San Juan during my first trip to Puerto Rico. Now I go back just to go to Vieques.
Many of these birds were photographed at the lovely boutique property, Finca Victoria. Other we taken on a beach hike called the Tapon Bay Trail. See my Vieques Island blog post for more details.
Finca Victoria featured my photos in a lovely Instagram post giving the Spanish name of each bird and some fun facts.

I’ll be headed back to Finca Victoria in December of 2026 to see what else I can find and will be leading a birding walk from Finca Victoria.
